Gleneagle Spirit 5k history
Celebrating Our 4th Year
Mark Rudolph has been a Residential Realtor® in the Pikes Peak Region since 2000. As a Realtor® he is not only responsible for serving the needs of his list of clients, he is also responsible for generating his own book of business by establishing relationships with as many people as possible. Drawing from his first career in Ice Hockey, he decided that he was going to differentiate himself from than the rest of the Real Estate Community by conducting unique and creative events in which the general public can participate. In 2006, the Gleneagle Spirit 5k Run/Walk was created by Rudolph.
“Initially, the Gleneagle Spirit was designed to get my name in front of the 2,400+ homeowners in the Gleneagle neighborhood, said Rudolph. With the proceeds of the “FunRun” benefitting the local Boy Scout Troop 194, the event became a huge success and ran for three consecutive years drawing over 300 participants in 2008.
In 2009, Rudolph’s business responsibilities were “beginning to interfere” with his ability to successfully continue the time-consuming task of single handedly organizing the Gleneagle Spirit 5k. Something had to give. So, he decided to postpone the event indefinitely.
Since 2009 he has been consistently asked to resurrect the event because it was a unique and popular event in the neighborhood. He has insisted that he would like to continue the annual event but required help from others to divvy up the time-consuming workload. This past Summer he was approached by Bonnie Burckel, a Gleneagle Neighbor and Blair Dinkins, a neighbor and a local Realtor®. They offered to jump in and help organize and resurrect the event in 2025. After several meetings between Rudolph, Dinkins and Burckel, the three decided that the fourth annual Gleneagle Spirit 5k Run/Walk would take place in 2025. The three announced that the FunRun was coming back at the 2024 Annual Meeting of the Gleneagle North Homeowners Association. The announcement was met with a large round of applause. Since then, the three have designated several areas of responsibility, have installed volunteers to head up each of those key positions and have started with the myriads of details that go into the event.
Dinkins and Rudolph are both Realtors® who work with different agencies, so this event represents a collaboration between competing companies that is seldom seen in the real estate world.
By popular demand, the Fourth Annual Gleneagle Spirit 5k Run/Walk for Fun will take place on Saturday September 9, 2025 from 8:30- 11:30 AM at the Antelope Trails Elementary School in Northern El Paso County. The 5k course will wind through the streets and trails of the scenic Gleneagle neighborhood (East of I-25 between the Northgate and Baptist Road Exits) and features rolling hills, providing a challenging course for all participants. Runners and Walkers of all ages participate in a morning filled with exercise, music and food.
Dinkins (EXP Realty) and Rudolph (ERA Shields Real Estate) will organize and present the 5k Run/Walk with the net proceeds going to the Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center. “The Boy Scout Troop 197 has been the recipient of past Gleneagle Spirit races and this year, we wanted to extend our donations to the Veterans Service Group,” said Rudolph.
Participants receive an event T-Shirt and other sponsor goodies. Following the Run/Walk, all participants will be treated to a sponsor midway, awards ceremony, live music, body, ankle and leg massages and a display of firefighting/ emergency response equipment in a carnival-like atmosphere. Food trucks will be available for participants to purchase food and drink before and after the race. For the runners, the race is professionally chip-timed and Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be presented to the top Male and Female finishers in eight age divisions.
The cost of participation is $35 per participant pre-registered ($40 day of the race registration). Children under 14 are free.
